Ag Cabhrú le Daoine eile / Helping others

Team Hope – Christmas Shoebox Appeal

Sa chéad téarma scoile gach bliain, bailímid boscaí lán le rudaí deasa chun cur chuig páistí ar fud an domhain a bhfuil ar ghannchuid agus ag fulaingt dá bharr cogaidh nó gorta. Is tionscnamh an shímplí é seo ina bhfoghlamaíonn na daltaí faoin saol ata ag roinnt páistí mór thimpeall na cruinne. Is slí an chinnte, coincréite inar féidir le páistí óga cabhrú go díreach le páistí eile.

In the first school term each year, we collect shoeboxes, filled with toys and treats to send to children in various countries around the world which have been afflicted by war, famine and poverty. It’s a very simple project through which the pupils learn about life of their peers in these countries. It’s a very hands on, concrete way for them to help another child who does not enjoy the same privileges in life.

Trócaire

Tá an – cheangailt againn le Trócaire, carthannacht a oibríonn go dian ar son an domhain á forbairt. Le fiche bliain anuas eagraíonn Rang 6 díolachán cácaí bliantiúil ar a son. Oibríonn na daltaí go dian ar an tionscnamh seo agus foghlaimíonn said an – chuid faoi obair Thrócaire agus saol na ndaoine sna tíortha ina mbíonn siad lonnaithe. Cuireann an rang tionscnamh le chéile chun an eolais seo a roinnt ar phobal uile na scoile.

Eagraíonn said an díolachán féin, á fógairt, á ullmhú, á eagrú is á stiúradh. Faighimid an-tacaíocht ó thuismitheoirí na scoile. Is ocáid mhór sa bhaile é le hiar scoláirí agus muintir an phobail ag freastal ar an díolachán cácaí.

Is breá linn cabhrú le daoine eile agus tá sé tábhachtach go gcuirfear deis ar fail do na páistí tacú leo siúd i ngátar.

Is sinn an bhunscoil is fearr sa tír chun airgid a bhailiú ar son Trócaire le nach mór €67,000 bailithe go dáta againn.

Our school has very close ties with Trócaire with our pupils fundraising for this great charity for the past 15 years. Over that time Rang a sé has organised a cake sale each year, the funds of which go directly to support the invaluable work of the charity in the developing world. The pupils work diligently on this project learning about Trócaire’s work and also about the lives of those they support. A project is then complied by the class to share this information with the greater school community. They advertise, plan, coordinate and organise the whole day’s events. We receive fantastic support from the parents and the parish.

We see providing such an opportunity for our pupils as being central to their overall development into young adults and inculcating in them empathy for others and an awareness of life in the developing world and ultimately providing them with the skills to take positive action.

To date our school has raised €67,000 for this wonderful charity, making us their No.1 primary school in the country!
