Scoil Ghníomhach Active School
Is breá linn bheith gníomhach anseo i nGaelscoil Bhríde!
Is cuid lárnach na scoile é. Cuirtear clár fairsing corpoideachais ar fáil do gach dalta ó rang Naíonán Shóisir ar aghaidh. Creidimid go láidir go mbaineann féin mhuinín, sláinte coirp is intinne le páistí a bheith gníomhach is faoin aer.
Mar chuid de Sheachtain Scoile Ghníomhaí bhí daltaí na scoile faoin aer gach lá ag rith is ag siúl. Rinne gach dalta idir 8km agus 20km chomh maith le réimse aclaíochta eile.
Bíonn feachtas eile againn leis chun leibhéil ghnímh na bpáistí a mheadú, cosúil le ‘Skipping for Life’, clár ina bhfoghlamaíonn na páistí scileanna is cluichí scipeála.
Tosaíonn na ranganna naíonán ar scileanna peile is iománaíochta chomh maith le réimse fairsing gleacaíochta is gníomhaíochtaí eile. Leanann sé seo tríd an scoil agus tosnaítear ar chluichí foirmeálta i Rang 2. Bíonn ceachtanna snámha ó Rang 3 ar aghaidh.
Bainimid úsáid as an timpeallacht chun fánaíocht is eachtraíocht faoin aer a dhéanamh.
Mar chuid de eispéaras Rang 6, caithimid cúpla lá i Killary Adventure Centre i gConamara. Bíonn deis ag na daltaí trial a bhaint as réimse leathan eachtraíochta cosúil le treodóireacht, dreapadh, curadóireacht, siúlóid chraosáin, “Dúshlán Fóda”, raftáil 7rl.
Is slí iontach é chun críochnú sa bhunscoil tar éis ocht mbliana ghíomhacha!
Active school
We enjoy being active in Gaelscoil Bhríde. It’s central to what we aspire to achieve. A wide and varied P.E. program is offered to all pupils from Junior Infants to Rang 6. We strongly believe that there is a very close tie between children being active outdoors and physical and mental wellbeing.
Central to our school day ' The Daily Mile' initiative which sees all pupils walk or run for 15 minutes every day. Not only does this see pupils get a valuable movement break, more importantly, it has far reaching benefits in both the pupils' physical and mental wellbeing.
‘Skipping for Life’ is another initiative we have introduced to encourage activity where children learn skipping skills and games.
Our Junior Infants embark on a fundamental programme in the basics of hurling and football, along with many other physical movement programs. This continues through the school with formal games/matches being introduced in Rang 1 & 2. Swimming lessons begin in Rang 3.
We use the environment also to introduce the children to outdoor pursuits. Each year our Sixth class are given the opportunity to spend a couple of days in Killary Adventure Centre in Connemara where the pupils get to experience climbing, orienteering, kayaking, gorge walking, rafting, high ropes and the famous Killary Turf Challenge.
A great way to finish eight active years of Primary school.
